Giant Crack in Africa may Become Ocean!

Scientists predict that giant crack found in Ethiopia may eventually become an ocean, will it? – link

A 35-mile rift in the desert of Ethiopia will likely become a new ocean eventually, researchers now confirm.

The crack, 20 feet wide in spots, opened in 2005 and some geologists believed then that it would spawn a new ocean. But that view was controversial, and the rift had not been well studied.

How To Extract Water from MoonDust!

Scientists from NASA have figured out how to extract water from moon dust. (or moon soil, see Wikipedia here for details)

Does this mean that life can exist on Moon? Not the biggest planet that will fit enough earthlings but still great news for future space migrations.

“No magic–” says Ed Ethridge of NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center “– just microwaves. We’re showing how microwaves can extract water from moondust by heating it from the inside out.”

Evidence Shows Aliens saved Earth!

Usually, you will find more horror stories on Alien abduction but here’s an interesting and odd story that the aliens or UFO has collided with a meteorite to save earth with evidence, very interesting although I cannot believe there are aliens out there. – link

Classify this under new of the weird. A Russian scientist claims that aliens downed the Tunguska meteorite 101 years ago to protect our planet from devastation. Yuri Lavbin says he found unusual quartz crystals at the site of the massive Siberian explosion. Ten crystals have holes in them, placed so the stones can be united in a chain, and other have drawings on them. “We don’t have any technologies that can print such kind of drawings on crystals,” said Lavbin. “We also found ferrum silicate that can not be produced anywhere, except in space.

NASA developing recycled Urine for Drinking!

Believe it or not, NASA is looking to recycle astronauts’ urine so they have more water supply. Good idea or not?

Among the ship’s cargo, which will help prepare the station for an expanded six-person crew, is a water regeneration system that, as one astronaut puts it, “will make yesterday’s coffee into today’s coffee”.

“It’s one of these great circle-of-life things,” explained Don Pettit, a former space station science officer serving as a mission specialist aboard Endeavour.

The new system distils, filters, ionizes and oxidizes wastewater – including urine — into fresh water for drinking.
