Cool, spinning seats! – link

Called the Spinning Seats, they come out in 8 pull out sections which can be used as seating solutions and even as table tops. Designed by Noel Blakeman, this should be a great solution to have for your home, particularly the ones with limited area for bulky furnitures.

A man builds an exact replica of a Pan-Am airlines first class cabin in his home.  Why?  Why not? – link

The setup includes almost everything fliers in the late 1970s and 1980s would have found onboard: pairs of red-and-blue reclining seats, original overhead luggage bins and a curved, red-carpeted staircase.
Mr. Toth, a 42-year-old global sales director at United Airlines, has spent more than 20 years on his elaborate recreation of a Pan Am cabin, which includes a few economy-class seats, too. All told, Mr. Toth estimates he has spent as much as $50,000 on the project, which he hopes someday to turn into a museum…

Here’s a really weird and bizarre liquid magnet sculpture.  I wonder if this is anywhere useful…probably not.

Ferrofluids are composed of nanoscale ferromagnetic particles suspended in a carrier fluid, usually an organic solvent or water. The ferromagnetic nano-particles are coated with a surfactant to prevent their agglomeration (due to van der Waals and magnetic forces).

Engine Table!

Here’s a vertical bed that’s been designed so homeless can take up less space by sleeping vertically.  How cruel is that?

Invented by James O’ Shea, the Vertical Bed is for taking quick naps in between a long day. The whole set up is contained in a suitcase and can be used anywhere, including a busy street.

You can look at this site for everything that is contained in this set-up. There only thing soft and foamy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foamy here is the neck pillow. It doesn’t even have a mattress mattress , maybe because it is too big to carry around, of course.

A BED built of old tin cans, perfect in every detail and capable of supporting 1,000 pounds, has been built by J. G. Smith, an unemployed mechanic of Atlanta, Georgia.

Three hundred and thirty-six tin cans of various sizes were used in constructing the bed. Except for the iron locks by which the head, footboard, and siderails are fitted together, and the iron cross pieces which support the springs, no other material was used. Even the bed lamp hanging from the head of the bed uses a tin can for a shade.

I saw a report on Cuban art on Frontline/World earlier this week. They mainly focused on the work of Los Carpinteros. I was so impressed with their wood work. My two favorite pieces they showed were the grenade-jewelry case and the hands with all the drawers.
