Radioactive Drinking Fountain!
Good thing we don’t drink radioactive water anymore…
The purpose of the Radium Vitalizer Health Fount jar was to add radon to drinking water. It was produced by the National Radium Company (aka Corporation), the same folks who manufactured the Lifetime Radium Vitalizer water jar. Unlike the aluminum body of the latter, the body of the Health Fount was made of uranium-containing vaseline glass. The radon source, known as the “Radium Unit,” was a blue ceramic cylinder, about 7 inches tall, that was supposed to be placed inside the glass jar. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your perspective) this example doesn’t have one. The missing Radium Unit had a double row of small holes to allow the water in the jar to circulate over the radioactive material inside.

Lets spread some love and not illness when it comes to public water holes that share the local water supplies. Fight for better budgets to upkeep and maintain the eyesores in our parks and buildings that some people call drinking fountains. And make sure they work when you feel like using one.
